Well, really, in packing and storing.... since we are only moving OUT not In, but we are taking more with us than you would for a vacation....
Some days you feel like you are superwoman- packing a dozen or two boxes, and (more importantly) filling up a large recycling box and several trash bags. Some days are more tedious. And the holidays are upon us! I guess the hardest choices are to stay focused on one task long enough, but not so long it becomes a time waster and a drag (sometimes it helps to back off and do soemthing else for a while and get a fresh start on a tough job). Hmm. Maybe I'm writing myself into a solution here- a good chunck of a day sorting, combining, and "taking stock" of our toiletries! That may sound pretty trivial... but we 1. have two bathrooms with some duplication 2. i've worked out of town for the past several years (more duplicates) 3. i've had a couple of misplaced "travel" selections in various suitcases/piles from various time periods (more duplicates requiring excavation). This is the good stuff, and i'm not planning on wasting! 4. Tom and I don't use all the same stuff, but he has some duplicates too 5. demo units from when i was actively selling the stuff, that now just need to be used and 6. new items unopened because I wasn't sure I had some stashed in 1-4 above!
I know no one cares about this, but its helping me to write. I now know I need to go do something else for a while!
Part of the problem is that packing is like a statistical process. Some stuff is easy to do (decision wise) even if it may be hard work, other stuff is hard to do. I think I've gotten the first round of "easy" just about done, and "hard" is no fun.
Now, where IS that recycle box.... maybe I can fill it up b4 bedtime!
Now, let's see, where IS that recycle box....

I'm feeling your pain. In some ways moving locally is trickier than moving across the country because it *can* all go and I'm not purging as much as I did when we made the move from Colorado to Missouri. But then again, we continually purge because of our proximity to the campus free store, so maybe the need isn't as great. Or something...
